Bonus time on Tyneside today as both Habib Beye and Michael Owen got closer to ending their long absences from the side. Beye has been out since suffering from an appalling Lee Twattermole tackle on Boxing Day at Wigan whilst Owen limped out of the Man City game in late January.
Beye insisted that his latest circuit training has got him pretty fit already whilst Owen, speaking to the club website, said:
'I'm right on schedule for a mid-March return. After I damaged my ankle ligaments three-and-a-half weeks ago the specialist said it would be six weeks to recovery, and that's exactly what it looks like being.
It should be full training for me by the start of March and, hopefully, fully fit and available again for the game at Hull City on 14th March. With the injured lads getting back to fitness the picture can quickly change. What's important is that as many players as possible return to a winning team firing on all cylinders.'
