Man Utd-reject Richardson a Toon target

According to The News of the World Newcastle United are ready to offer Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson a staggering £60,000-per-week salary in order to tempt the 24-year-old to quit the Stadium of Light.

The Magpies failed in a transfer deadline day deal for the ex-Manchester United player, but are understood to be readying a fresh £6 million offer for the summer.

The St. James' Park club are also considering a season-long loan move for Argentine midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme, and a £7 million swoop for Manchester City youngster Michael Johnson.
