Johnson: Newcastle should have bid earlier

Newcastle United are to blame for the deal falling through on transfer deadline day for highly-rated 20-year-old midfielder Michael Johnson from Manchester City, says the player.

Speaking to The Sun Johnson expressed his frustrations at the way the whole transaction was handled. He said that Newcastle United should have bid earlier in the window as deadline day transactions have a nasty reputation of falling through.

The 20-year-old midfield ace hoped the move would go through, however, but he was always skeptical.

In the end, Manchester City hung on to their player, and Newcastle United missed the chance to recruit a top-class youngster. Even though the Magpies are said to be interested in going back to the Eastlands in the summer for the player, Johnson has stated that the entire fiasco regarding his transfer had soured his desire to join the Toon, and that he will look elsewhere to ply his trade.

Another brilliant piece of business from Mike Ashley, and his right-hand man Derek Llambias.

Gutted about this one. Would have been delighted with him in the midfield.

If you can get him out of the clubs

Heard that one mentioned on here before. As long as he isn't fond of C(anal) S(treet).

We should definitly put in another bid for him in the summer though he is a promising prospect.
