United prepare deal for Argentine midfield ace

Newcastle United are understood to be readying a sensational summer swoop for Argentine midfield maestro Juan Roman Riquelme from Argentine Primera División side Boca Juniors.

The 30-year-old has been a target for the Magpies since last summer, and now, Mike Ashley and his team of negotiators are preparing a deal to bring the talented midfielder to St. James' Park.

It is understood that Newcastle United are reluctant to pay the €7 million fee wanted by Boca, but are keen to offer the player a season-long loan deal.

United are desperate to sign a creative midfielder in the summer, and Riquelme could be the answer - considering the player's vast experience in club, and International football.

He has scored six goals in 27 appearances for Los Xeneizes this term, and is looking a player who could make an immediate impact in England.
