United welcomes Swedish starlet

Newcastle United have agreed an undisclosed fee with Jonkopings Sodra IF for the transfer of Swedish wonderkid Samuel Adjei. The 17-year-old is set to sign for the Magpies after having impressed the bosses on Tyneside during his trial at St. James' Park.

A statement on the official site for the Swedish Second Division club read: "Jonkopings Sodra IF can confirm that the corporation has reached an agreement with the English Premier League club Newcastle United FC.

'The agreement means that the only formal contract between the clubs is still to be signed regarding Samuel Adjei`s transfer.

"Samuel Adjei will also undergo a compulsory medical examination at Newcastle.

"Jonkopings Sodra IF wishes Samuel Adjei great luck with the football at his new club and in his new country!"

Adjei is regarded very highly in his homeland, and it would appear that Newcastle United have pulled off quite an impressive deal having tied up the talented youngster before the so-called big-boys of Europe took notice.
