'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Post Baggies: Lovenkrands

Having adapted to life at NUFC quickly, Peter Lovenkrands has praised the fans for the support showered on him at the Hawthorns on Saturday. After breaking his duck the striker said:

"The fans were great all game. I could hear them chanting my name, and it gave me a big lift. I was absolutely buzzing the whole day when I found out I was starting, but I was very nervous as well. Starting in the Premier League and scoring is incredible, but the most important thing was that we got the three points.

My last goal was maybe a year ago. I had a couple of reserve team goals, but it`s been a long time on the big scene. It was just great to help the team. Especially in the first half, I thought we looked really good. Shola and I held the ball up well, and we did a good job first half.

We had a lot of chances, and it was really good to be 3-1 up at half time. We were more under pressure in the second half, as they were pushing more up the pitch. The second half was hard work, but it was all worth it in the end. It was important we got three points - it was a very important game for us, and it was good all the other teams under us losing as well. We were very pleased."
