With a goal under his belt ahead of flying off on Under 21s duty, Steven Taylor was a happy man following our three point bonanza against the Baggies. With a slim shaft of daylight between ourselves and the rest of the pack, it gives us a platform to build on and Tayls said:
"They were trying to block me off, so I had to switch with Sebastien. Luckily for me, it came off, and there`s no better feeling than scoring for Newcastle United. The lad was trying to basketball mark me, so there was only one way round it. It was a great ball by Ryan.
He`s got that in his locker. He`s one of the best crossers in the Premier League. Every time I`ve gone in for corners recently, the ball hasn`t dropped for me. Now, with Ryan knowing my game from the England Under-21s, I`m going to get in there and attack it.
The first-half performance was going to be important, and we got off to an absolute flier. I`m absolutely delighted with the result - it`s given the whole place a big lift. The other results went well for us too. We`ve got a two-week break now, and it`s what we need. Hopefully, the lads will come back fresh, and ready for the game against Everton."
