Window Tattle: Mackems claiming Ben Haim snub

Ricky Sbragia, him of the Mackem variety, has claimed that the Black Cats saw off ourselves in a last ditch plunge for former Bolton and Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim. Having missed out on the player under Sam Allardyce, Sbragia claimed:

"We needed defenders and I knew about Tal Ben-Haim from his Bolton days. Blackburn and Newcastle were interested but he has decided to join us and we`re glad of that."

Trust me boys, he aint a bad player, like Jose said "a very uncomplicated tackler".............got some good mobility too............only possible drawback, maybe he get squared up sometimes against top notch pacy attackers like Torres..........otherwise quite OK..........

As a City fan who has actually seen this joker play I can honestly say I am delighted (and not just a little surprised) that we were able to offloadhim at all. He may have been good at Bolton, but he hasn't reproduced that form for either Chelsea or ManCity, so you Newcastle fans should be able to have a laugh about dodging the bullet.

"only possible drawback, maybe he get squared up sometimes against top notch pacy attackers like Torres..........otherwise quite OK.........." to be fair mate if he cant defend against the best players in the league he isnt good enough lol

He improved his trade profoudly while at Bolton and still is. His lack of pitchtime while at Chelsea made him a touch sluggish but he seems to have recovered from that...like I said a vey uncomplicated no-nonsense tackler. And quite hard to beat in the air too.just what the magpies need at the hour
