Deadline Day: NUFC Summary

Deadline Day: NUFC Summary

So the magic window is now closed and Newcastle have once again managed to come out of it probably worse off than ever before. Mike Ashley will be beaming - will Given and N`Zogbia out for combined fees north of £12m and just £6m for Nolan, Lovenkrands and Taylor, he`s got an extra £6m+ in the bank. Add that to the Milner £12m and you can have no doubts over the asset stripping nature of the current regime.

Once again there is controversy. Michael Johnson was an alleged target, with City said to have turned down £8m for the lad. Bids were also made for Veloso, although City and Bolton again remain the two most likely to do that. Ray Ranson also confirmed no bid had been made for Danny Fox, the Coventry left back.

Meanwhile Mike Ashley personally called Sky Sports to deny any truth in the rumours over an Oba Martins / Darren Bent swap. This fits in with previous rumours from August linking the club with an 'every player has his price` policy.

Yep definitely an underwhelming window on the whole. We're going to need everyone to get/stay fit to stay up.

Why haven't we gone for a reliable defender? Coloccini has had 30 games and impressed in less than a handful.
