End of an era: Shay gone

End of an era: Shay gone

The Man City Official site is now reporting they have signed Shay Given on a 4.5 year deal for an undisclosed fee. Unsurprising but still sad news anyway. Shay`s 450 appearances will take some beating in the new Premier League era of little loyalty, with surely a home grown player being the only chance at this.

Took long enough but Given has finally signed for us. I'm very pleased, he's a quality keeper. I'm gutted that he decided to leave Newcastle after so long, but everything runs it's course. Hope Newcastle fans aren't blaming Given for the move, it's a combination of Kinnear's inability to manage and Ashley's incompetence. Looks like you have a pretty good replacement in Harper, so you probably won't miss Given.
