Post Mackems: Scores on the doors

Harper - 8/10 - Really unlucky with the goal, decent (ish) kicking and reasonably commanding on crosses. Not a bad effort to start the post-Given era.

Taylor - 8/10 - Good efforts going forward, especially to win us the penalty. Reasonably solid coming across to cover a number of times for the centre halves.

Coloccini - 4/10 - Struggled massively. Wonder whether the lad will end up becoming another costly Boumsong level mistake. The fact Kinnear is after a Hyppia figure reflects shockingly on a £10m player.

Bassong - 9/10 - Ran Jonas close for MOTM. Put in a fantastic shift against Jones and only Coloccini`s continual failure to handle Cisse robbed him of a clean sheet.

Enrique - 7/10 - Needs to work on his crossing but linked well with Jonas. Can he manage it consistently for 10 games though is the next question?

Duff - 5/10 - Never in the game, despite a couple of interesting crosses. Needs to shape up physically for the relegation battle.

Butt - 5/10 - Looked very leaden legged in the midfield. Almost cost us the match with his untimely header back to Coloccini.

Nolan - 6/10 - Steady rather than spectacular. Never got a sniff at goal but should figure more in an away day formation.

Jonas - 9.5/10 - Nearly a 10 but lacked some end product at times. Scared the mackems witless and the fact most of their bookings came through hacking him down says it all.

Ameobi - 5/10 - Got an extra mark for the penalty but was massively outshone by Carroll. Looks so leggy and off the pace it`s criminal.

Carroll - 7/10 - Was reasonably satisfied and missed out on a derby goal when his header flicked the bar.

Disappointing game, really. But still... a draw is better than a loss... especially against Sunderland.
