Oh no - no Ebondo

Oh no - no Ebondo

Despite our current impasse over Toulouse defender Ebondo, the player himself is desperate to get the move to go through. Speaking to Sky Sports the player himself said:

'I am flattered by the interest shown by Newcastle for me. I have always been ambitious, I want to join the Premier League, which is for me the biggest league in the world. My dream is for the two club to agree a fee, however if he does not happen it is not the end of the world. I know some Newcastle players, not personally, but because they are popular players such as Owen, Butt, Geremi, Viduka, Martins, so they are a good team with great players.

If the manager wants me, that means I can add something to the team, I think there is some details to put together, but nothing is done yet, but it is not far. That is my feeling.'

It looks however as if the dream is over for the player, with the French club typically widening their fee margin with us from the mooted 3m Euros to £6m now. Joe Kinnear quipped:

"We thought it was a bid of £3million but it ended up being £6million so we pulled out for now."

Whether it gets resurrected remains to be seen.
