Portsmouth prepare £4 million offer for Barton

Portsmouth prepare £4 million offer for Barton

According to The Sun Portsmouth manager Tony Adams is on the verge of offering £4 million for Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton.

The Ex-Manchester City midfielder has just recently returned to action for the Magpies, and Joe Kinnear is thought to be an admirer of the England man.

At this point a sale is unlikely, as the Toon want atleast £6 million for the player, with Pompey unlikely to increase their bid.

£4m is about the best we'll get for him, given his sullied reputation. On the other hand, best not sell him until deadline day as both Butt and Guthrie are out for Citeh this Wednesday.
