Løvenkrands: Play me up top and I will score

Danish International, and Joe Kinnear's first signing of the year Peter Løvenkrands has reiterated that his preferred position is forward, and that given the opportunity he would score goals as he had done in his final season at old club Rangers FC.

'I will play anywhere but I'm a striker, but Rangers put me on the left-wing because I was fast,' he told the BBC.

'But in my last half a season at Rangers I scored 18 goals from the striker position and proved that I can play there and it's my preferred position.'

Løvenkrands' versatility is one of the reasons why Joe Kinnear was so impressed with him. He can play on either flank, and is a massive threat going forward with his pace, and trickery.

The 28-year-old stated that he cannot wait to put on the Toon shirt and step out onto the pitch, as he gears up for his debut against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

'I can't wait to put the Newcastle top on for the first time,' the 28-year-old Dane told BBC Radio Newcastle.

'It's going to be exciting and it will be an experience.'
