Jean Alain Boumsong has returned from his trip home to France, ready to continue where he left off. Glenn Roeder gave Boumsong permission to return to France this week to look after his pregnant wife as he served his one-match ban after his red card at Chelsea.
Roeder: 'Jean Alain appreciated the opportunity we gave him to go back home but he was back in training yesterday and my view is that you fall off a horse the best thing to do is to get straight back on it.
'He realised he had made some errors against Liverpool and he has been very upset about it but for me he now has two options. In boxing terms, when you are knocked to the canvas, you can stay down or do what Rocky did in those films and pick yourself up off the floor.
'So he has to come out punching and play his football without making any mistakes. He made those errors and he will be wanting to learn from them and make sure he does not repeat them again in his career.
'He has got to learn that in situations like he found himself in just after half-time against Liverpool on Sunday, he does not have to clear the ball by lashing it away but by side-footing it to safety.
'The Newcastle fans are a forgiving crowd and I will stay out all day and work with Jean Alain. I won't give up on him as long as he does not give up on himself.'
