Kinnear backing Ashley

After revealing his imminent transfer targets, Joe Kinnear had some kind words for the current incumbent of the St James Park chairman`s seat, revealing his chats with Mike Ashley so far have been of the positive variety.

Despite being persona non grata amongst the fans he certainly has Kinnear`s vote for now (maybe not for long if the transfers don`t come off), with the gaffer saying:

I have been in contact with him and it has been very good so far. He is prepared to back me on what players I have seen, which is good news, but the frustrating thing is actually getting the players at the moment. But I am optimistic that deals will be tied up very shortly, one going out and a couple coming in.'
