'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Post Hull: Bassong

Widely accepted as an NUFC cult hero for his totally ineffective non-marking job on Michael Owen in the 2007/08 home derby, Paul McShane certainly has a lot of black and white fans. However Seb Bassong hasn't read the script on that one, slamming the mackem loanee, saying:

"I am not that type of player and it is out of character for me to react like this. I was just trying to flick the ball on in the last minute. But I don`t know what happened in his (McShane) head.

It`s over now but I was nervous because we were losing, I don`t know what he was trying to do to me. When you are getting beaten you don`t feel too good and I like players who are fair - what he did wasn`t fair.

We are all very disappointed because we wanted to do well in this cup. We have missed an opportunity and that is hard for us to take.

It`s even more disappointing for us because if we had finished off our chances the game would have been over. When you look at all the chances we had, it`s hard. Now we have to look at the next game because this is finished."
