Having been great James Beattie admirers in his Southampton days, the former Everton man is now being linked strongly with a move to SJP. The People believes we are now battling Fat Sam`s Blackburn Rovers to get the Sheffield United star`s signature.

Quite why we`re looking at a Beattie type when we`ve already got Carroll coming through is a strange one. A fee of £5m has been suggested and Beattie was left out of Sheffield United`s match day squad yesterday.
