Post Liverpool: Travesty for Sir Bobby

Whilst the Sir Bobby Day was a grand idea and raised a lot of money for charity, along with giving the man we think the world of a rousing reception, surely we could have picked beatable opposition!?

Truly it was a day to appreciate the efforts of Sir Bobby against Liverpool in years gone by. Under him who could forget Laurent Robert`s barnstorming free kicks to beat them 1-0 twice, Shearer and Ferguson in the Boxing Day bonanza years ago and Nobby Solano`s saluting celebration picking up our mood after the derby defeat in 2001.

Under Bobby we could compete with them, at least on home turf, and were up there against them fighting for Champions League slots. Now, as we roll towards our third relegation battle on the trot, perhaps it is finally the time to really appreciate what SBR achieved with us.

Those days of Milan, Rotterdam and Barcelona won`t be coming back any time soon.
