'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Guthrie hails Kinnear

Despite being signed by Joe Kinnear`s predecessor, King Kev, Danny Guthrie has shone in his new role under our current gaffer, notching his first goal against Pompey ten days ago and clambering to within a sniff of England Under 21 honours when Psycho Pearce announces his next squad. Guthrie has spoken of his happiness under JFK, saying:

"The manager just came in here with a no-nonsense attitude and that has worked for us so far. He has certainly steadied the ship, but there were no drastic changes. "He just came in and picked the team as any manager would.

What every team needs and can`t do without is a manager in place, and that`s what Joe gave us. Now we know we`ve got him until the end of the season everyone doesn`t have to be thinking 'what`s going to happen next week - is someone else going to come in`?"

It`s a good start from him. Now it`s up to us to build on it. We can just concentrate on playing, and see what happens at the end of the season."
