Whilst we often laud the lad for bailing us out at our own end, Shay Given finally got some credit for his performance making goals after his long hoof managed to set up Chuck the Zog for our opening goal. Shay himself was typically modest saying:
"I know Charles N'Zogbia's very quick, and I could see if I got the right connection on the ball, he had a chance of getting in. Luckily enough, I hit it pretty true. He's got in, but there was a lot of work still to do. Thankfully, he stuck it away, and he deserves as much credit as anyone.
The highlight was Duffer scoring a late winner. It makes a change. In the last two home games we've given away late goals, and the fans and players have gone home with their heads down. Those games were disappointing. We gave away late goals to two ex-Newcastle players, which sort of rubs salt into the wound even more.
It was nice to give them a winning late goal. It was fantastic for us to get the late goal, and we're all going to have a happier Christmas.'
