Ahead of the Spurs game on Sunday it seems only natural that a man who spent the majority of his career with the North London club should have his fair say on the state of affairs at both his former and current charges. Chris Hughton was quick to point out the significance of the game and set his heart on a better result than the Carling Cup effort earlier in the season. He said:
"The way the league is at the moment, every game just gets bigger and bigger because, as was seen by our result at Fratton Park on Sunday, what a difference the three points make. That victory was probably the best of the season for us but, after three fine results home at Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, we know we have to start winning our home games again.
We needed that win at Portsmouth, and the league table showed just how valuable it was - but we have to be more consistent at home. If Spurs were playing a League game tonight me or Joe would have been there, but the team Harry puts out against Sparta Moscow will probably be a lot different to the one at St James`s Park on Sunday. But we will still have tonight`s game well covered.'
