Sir Bob a Prince Bishops Freeman

There can be no more deserved recipient of the Freeman of Durham award than Langley Park`s finest, Sir Bobby Robson. Sir Bob has now received the award of Honorary Freeman of his home town by Mayor Grenville Holland at Durham Town Hall.

Sir Bobby, who was born in Sacriston and raised in Langley Park, near Durham City, was given the Freedom of Newcastle three years ago and the Freedom of Ipswich seven months ago.

Mayor Holland said: 'Sir Bobby is a great man and a local hero who has given a great deal to sport and also to charity. Nobody is more deserving of the Freedom of Durham than Sir Bobby Robson.'

Fully deserved Sir Bob,and I pray that you will get a long remission to fully enjoy it. As a Chelsea supporter I also know the debt of gratitude we owe you for turning Mourinho from a translator to one of the top European coaches and therby giving us our two Premiership titles. A gentleman by whose high standards the likes of Ferguson and Wenger(whatever the sycophantic press say) pale into unpleasant nasty little men. Congratulations again!
