Uber-agent on takeover trail
Following Keith Harris` deemed failure to sell the club within Mike Ashley`s wished timescales, it seems like Pini Zahavi has taken a grip on proceedings. This morning`s Sunday Mirror said:
Pini Zahavi, the world's leading football agent, is masterminding a takeover of Newcastle United. The Israeli go-between was involved in two meetings last week with a representative of Seymour Pierce, the investment bankers representing Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.
Zahavi was in London on business and arranged the fact-finding meetings at his apartment. Ashley has aimed to clinch a £250million sell-out, but interest in the Geordies has been undermined by the world financial crisis.
Zahavi is representing a group who are keen to buy a Premier League club. They are serious bidders who are happy to let him establish the state of Newcastle's finances. He's reporting back to them before they make their next move.
