'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Big Sho hails unity

As Newcastle`s wilderness man Shola Ameobi has a lot of reasons to be thankful to JFK, who has branded the former England Under 21 man his very own John Fashanu. Shola has repaid that in kind with a glowing endorsement of our interim gaffer, saying:

"On the pitch we have enough quality to beat any team. We just have to prove it. We haven`t talked about a crisis. We just had to get it out of us and Joe has brought the fight back to the club.

There was initial disappointment. I had been playing well and in among the goals. But it`s a team game and I understood the decision. The manager had a plan to stop Chelsea scoring and that`s exactly what he did. We were delighted with the result, and I played my part. We had all the confidence in the world after taking a point against one of the best teams in the world.

The results show that and the way we have been playing shows it. There is a togetherness, it shows in the way we battle. We come away from games knowing we have done all we can. Joe has brought that confidence here."

I've always liked Shola, and if any manager can make the most of his talents it is Kinnear. Seriously, JFK is turning things around and the signs are that you barcodes will eventually get your act together after a "freefall"

Usual freefall - start the season like that every year.
