Unsurprisingly, led by the former Sunderland Legion of Light editor Louise Taylor, a stalwart of the Guardian`s lentil munching literati, the Boro game brought the magic word Islamaphobia back onto the radar. NUFC fans are again faced with the accusations of racially abusing Mido at the Riverside.
At Vital Newcastle we did the story to death last year defending our fans as the media took banter to be some sort of Koran burning exercise / publication of Prophet Muhammed cartoons level. We again stand no different this year, looking on as the media looked for some easy copy and jumped on their latest crusade (Ed: Can we use 'crusade` or does it have some sort of offensive Middle Ages holy war connotation that might be offensive too?).
