Defensive lynchpin Habib Beye has delivered an unsurprising and positive interview prior to our trip to Smogside at the weekend. With the relegation zone all around us, the right back has called on his fellow players to rally round and get the same sort of away day result as at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. Beye said:
"It`s a big game for us. We lost the first derby against Sunderland and in this one we have to win it for the fans. We must do well. Yes, it is a derby but in addition to that it`s also a big day because we need all three points so victory is on our minds.
We need points. It`s so close in the Premier League. You can see how easily you can move up if you start winning. But by the same token you can easily be sucked into a relegation battle. That of, course, is not what anybody wants here and each game coming helps us get out of it. When you look around everybody is taking points from each other.
Fulham took a point at Anfield against Liverpool last week and we enjoyed getting a point at Chelsea. We have shown the quality we have now. Now you can expect to see us in the top 10 again. We have been to Man U and Chelsea and none of them have beaten us. So we have to be more confident."
