'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Danny calling Boro boys

With Barton`s injury meaning an extra slot in midfield for the lads, Danny Guthrie has stepped back in for the last game and a half to reasonable effect, doing his bit in our creditable and highly unlikely draw against the Rent Boys.

Rather than resting on his laurels, the former Liverpool and Bolton lad has issued a plea for our fans to get behind the team at Boro this weekend. Guthrie said:

"The away support is great - every away game they are there in their numbers. At Fulham it was amazing - they took a up whole stand behind the goal. It is a big plus when you go to away games and see that. It`s great to have them behind you, now we just need to pick some points up away from home. If we can do that it takes the pressure off at home.

The game at Middlesbrough could have been even bigger if we hadn`t got a result at Chelsea. We knew the two away games would be big. We don`t want to think about losing any game. We looked at both Chelsea and Middlesbrough as opportunities to get something. There is still room for improvement with our away form, and we expect to win at home. But we need to pick up points away from home, and the sooner we do it the better.

It`s weird at the moment. If you pick up two wins, you are in mid-table and pushing up. Then if you lose a couple you are in the relegation zone. The Premier League hasn`t settled down at all."
