With notches against Fulham, the Mackems and Citeh, Shola Ameobi is hoping to get a goal in a winning side after two defeats and a draw when he`s netted. With the Wigan game a double crunch due to both our positions, Shola said:
'I will be up to 50 with my next goal. but it's not something I'll be thinking about. I'm just thinking of helping us to beat Wigan. I want us to get out of the relegation zone - we need to get out of the bottom half. That's our emphasis, and what we need to do from now until Christmas. We must tighten up.
From a personal point of view of course I'd like to score more, and that's what I'll be trying to do. When you look at the league, and the way the table is, this season has certainly been a strange one. We went into Fulham looking to get three wins on the bounce, but now we're looking forward to getting home to play Wigan.
We don't want to be in that bottom three and we don't want to get sucked in. We realise if we create chances, play the way we have been doing, and keep it tight at the back, then we can get out of it. We can get back up the table, and Wigan represents the chance to do it.'
