With Geremi playing the role of Nelson Mandela at the club, is Habib Beye our very own Winnie? Young starlet Sebastian Bassong has identified our signing from Marseille as the big daddy of the squad, thanking him for the leadership he has shown. Bassong said:
"He was injured at the start of the season so he needed to recover in order to be at his best, and he started well when he returned to action, but he was still underperforming. Now we all can see he is back at the top of his game and his involvement is a massive boost for Newcastle United.
He is a very useful player and character who is doing a tremendous job. Habib is a natural leader who does not need to speak much to be understood, but he does speak to us, and his English is very good. He also speaks French with some players to show us the way to follow. Habib is an example for me, a big brother and I listen to his advice. I am always next to him because we get on very well and he makes me learn lots of things."
