Toon Can Forget Van Nistelrooy

It seems to be the 'Silly Season' right now, as media reports suggest Newcastle are the latest club lining up an approach for Ruud van Nistelrooy, as speculation mounts over his future. But we can report that no such deal will be allowed to happen because Man Utd will not sell a prized asset to another English club.

The Dutchman was dropped to the bench for the Carling Cup final win over Wigan at Cardiff, and he hasn't been a happy camper ever since. He even walked off the pitch while his mates were celebrating the victory.

But with interest from Real Madrid and several Italian clubs, it appears very unlikely Sir Alex Ferguson would let the 29-year-old move to another Premiership club.

Chairman Freddy Shepherd's priority is to find a new manager, and today he insisted the new man will decide just who will come and go from St James' Park in the close season.
