Forget That 'Pav Is A Geordie' Shirt
Shay Given was crowned Sports Personality of the Year following an outstanding 12 months. We all know about Pavel Srnicek's 'Pavel Is A Geordie' t-shirt, but what about 'Geordie Shay'?
Given: 'I don't think we can replace Alan Shearer - we are going to have to get somebody in during the summer to try to replace him if that's possible. But it's a hard job for the manager and the chairman to do that. He has been an unbelievable player and I feel proud to have played alongside him.'
'I feel like a Geordie at the minute - Newcastle is a huge part of my life regardless of what happens in the future. I feel this is where I belong now. I feel very privileged to win the Sports Personality award because of the names that have come before me - it is a huge honour.'
