Barclays Global Fans Survey 2008

Barclays to interview 50,000 fans in over 100 countries to find out what fans truly think about football -

Barclays today announces the launch of its official Global Fans Survey 2008 - with supporters given the opportunity to win an all expenses paid trip to see the Barclays Asia Trophy in July 2009 (*or an all expenses paid trip to England to see the Barclays Premier League team of their choice) for taking part.

The Barclays Global Fans Survey is aiming to find out the opinions of supporters around the world of the most popular domestic league in the world. Whether it`s the world`s favourite player, which team is best supported or how much they spend on merchandise - this survey will find it out.

In exchange for their thoughts on the League, Barclays are offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sample top flight football.

Fans outside of the UK and Ireland will be entered into a draw to win a VIP trip to see a Barclays Premier League team of their choice, including travel to the UK for two, accommodation, spending money and a replica shirt.

UK and Ireland based fans will be entered into a draw to win an all expenses paid trip for two to the Far East to watch the Barclays Asia Trophy in 2009. Twenty runners-up will also receive a Barclays Premier League replica home shirt of their choice.

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres said: 'I have been playing in England for two years and am not surprised that the Barclays Premier League's popularity has grown so much around the world. It will be interesting to see which countries have the most fans as I know there are plenty of supporters in Spain.'

Cristiano Ronaldo, the 2008/9 Barclays Player of the Season, comments: 'Across the world the Barclays Premier League has deservedly won a reputation as the most exciting League to watch. It is great that fans have the chance to share their opinions about the competition, the clubs and it will be great to find out what supporters think.'

Barclays will release the results in mid-November, when the Barclays Global Fans Survey is published.
