'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Viduka crocked

15 months ago, whilst getting my fine locks cut by our local Boro supporting barber, I got chatting on the subject of Viduka. "Great player," he said, "but you`ll only ever see him for August, September, April and May. Rest of the time he`s in hibernation unless he`s playing for his contract."

I laughed and thought he was talking the usual bitter barrel of Boro drivel. However fast forward to now and he`s called it pretty spot on. Whether his weight makes him more susceptible to injury or not will always be open to debate but his appearances record makes pretty shocking reading. 21 games and 7 goals would probably be a decent return for a player by Xmas but in Viduka`s case that`s probably a 1 in 3 game turnout record.

This miserable string looks set to continue, with the Aussie having been sent back Down Under to seek injury on the mystery Achilles tendon injury that has forced his latest lay off. No return date has been set, with the club no longer persisting with its 'two weeks away` line of all summer.
