Surgeon Hall sticks up for Ashley

In an attempt to potentially justify his sale of his Newcastle shares holding to Mike Ashley Sir John Hall has backed the man affectionately known as 'Fattyboy` by some more baser elements of our support. With the audit trail effectively leading back to him and the prime example of nepotism gone wrong, his son Douglas, Teflon John has tried to head off any negative press by praising Ashley as a man with the interests of the club at heart. Sure seems like it with the 481m price tag being hawked around. Anyway Hall added:

'When I met Mike Ashley and his advisors, they had the best intentions for the club. He wanted to stay there and develop it, so I feel sad for him and sad for the club. He's a good businessman but a novice in the game, as I was when I first came into it. He was coming in to build for the long run and he is a football fan. He had a long-term vision.'
