'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tayls demands victory

Having watched former teammates Jenas and Woodgate experience the joy of a Carling Cup win last season, an envious Steven Taylor has demanded that Newcastle loosen their hold on the cup and progress into the next round with all the other Premier League big dogs. With the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd easing through, it`s essential that Newcastle beat Spurs to have any hope of losing to one of the 'Big Four` at a no doubt infinitely more painful stage. He said:

"We must win tonight for our supporters. They have been fantastic this season, despite everything that`s gone on. They`ve stuck with the players and that`s meant a lot to us. We`re in this together, and their support means a lot to us.

The West Ham defeat was very disappointing, but the good thing is that we can get it quickly out of our systems against Tottenham. This is a competition we believe we can progress in, and we know how much the cups mean to the fans.

Fraizer Campbell is an England Under-21 colleague and he is a very good player. But Spurs have a lot of quality through their side and we`ll have to be at our best to get through. Looking at their players, you think they will turn the corner soon, but we just need to worry about ourselves. We need a result, and there`s no reason why we can`t get one."
