The turmoils of Newcastle United continued in East London as the team succumbed to a second defeat in two games since Kevin Keegan left the club.

A double from David Di Michele and a Matthew Etherington goal had put the home side 3-0 up before Michael Owen netted a consolation.

Caretaker manager Chris Hughton says he's happy with the response of the team in the second half, but admits the long term managerial situation needs to be sorted out. He's already eyeing up the next match against Tottenham in the League Cup as a massive game for the club.
