Without wanting to sound overly dramatic - isn`t the bloke just symptomatic of everything that is wrong with Ashley`s Newcastle? As he sat there alone in the directors box, smirking like the cat that got the cream throughout the match in his Ringo Starr knock-off shades, you have to wonder whether the departure of Chris Mort was the beginning of the end. I don`t think I`ve ever wanted to punch someone as much as when I saw the weasel-like grin on Llambias` mush on Football First.
Mort came across as a thoroughly decent bloke. Always willing to engage the fans in conversation, his attitude and the sheer volume of informative press releases and info fed from the club was a pleasant change from the Shepherd to Alan Oliver Ministry of Disinformation we had previously.
Fast forward to Llambias and the only information the club would put out involved Geordies digging into their pockets for shirts and season tickets. As the frustration grew, so the statements became even less frequent. Cue the current dissatisfaction.
Whilst the bloke should be given credit for having the balls to turn up, he should have at least tried to show a bit of dignity.
