Milner hands in transfer request

Just when we thought we had weathered the James Milner storm, KK has suffered a body blow as the lad has handed in a transfer request. A club statement confirmed that if the right offer was received then they would let him go.

Following on from his MOTM display against Coventry last night this is yet another kick in the teeth for us fans who have seen 7 leave and only four come in. With KK having to leave transfers to the likes of Wise, Jiminez and Vetere there seems little hope of the Three Stooges convincing any player to make the move ahead of Monday`s transfer deadline.

A note to Milner, who has disappointed fans with this latest action. Seemingly forcing our hand to get his Villa move leaves a bitter taste and one that will not be forgotten. Despite KK clearly deeming him irreplaceable last night he goes and does this.

As a Gooner I think he's stiched you up here. If he really wanted to go, he should have handed his request in ages ago! At least then you have time to use the money for his replacement. O'neil is a bit of a hypocrite about unsettling players as well.
navydave
Milner unsettled himself surely? MON keeps everything well quiet until the bid has been accepted.
son_of_cher
I don't blame O'Neill. He hasn't exactly labelled his target a la Fergie / Real etc. The press have had this story all summer but it's the timing that has really got me radged. Why wait until 5 days before the deadline, leaving NUFC no time to get a replacement?
SirLes
My sentiments exactly SirLes! Still don't think MON is as innocent as he makes out. He may not have used the media to unsettle him, doesn't mean he didn't have a word with an agent.
navydave
Have to agree SirLes, terrible timing, he should have done this earlier. We had the same when Nobby decided he was moving back to the Toon from us, he just packed his stuff and was off!
The Fear
MON has said nothing to the press about Milner i think navydave don't like MON because of what he said about his manager talking to the press about Barry. it's grim down south.

TBH I think that the wheels are finally turning, Robinho to Chelsea, Malouda to Newcastle and milner to Villa, everyone is happy! ;)
Villasimmo
as long as we get a replacement im happy. Gutierrez is an already excellent assition to our squad. But i have to say the timeing is awful. I got a feeling its liverpool he might be heading to....?
Toon4LiFe
If Milner goes to Liverpool he's one stupid boy.
son_of_cher
navydave get your facts rights, oh you haven't got any facts. This coming from a gooner where the boss says he wants a player but will not pay full value! Milner handed in a transfer request on the 20th august (pfa website), but wasn't revealed by newcastle until now, strange, like navydave. Are they trying to make milner look like a scapegoat?

You wouldn't give him a new contract after it was well deserved.. he's coming to the good side now.
los_angeles_villan
You'll miss him if he goes, workhorse of thr team
