Cuellar rumours denied

Long term NUFC target Carlos Cuellar looks set to stay a Gers player despite the Ibrox club`s shock exit from the Champions League. Gers manager Walter Smith confirmed there had been no bid and that it wouldn`t be welcomed:

"We`ve not an offer for Carlos Cuellar. We don`t want one and we are not seeking one. We don`t have to sell the player at this stage. We don`t have to offload players simply because of that situation. Some players were going to leave anyway and that will still happen, but it`s not entirely because of our failure to qualify for the Champions League."

Meanwhile a move for former Bayern Munich man Sammy Kuffour has also been mooted.

I'm a gers fan and if you had got Cuellar you would have got a class centre half who is quality but i see you have signed the coloccini boy he looks a good buy. Good luck in the new season and may i take this to wish sir bobby robson and his family all the best after hearing he is dying of cancer. The man is a legend and I have always had a soft spot for newcastle utd and used to love watching you when he was manager when you were in the champions league and a game against man u where you won 4-3 springs to mind good times. All the best
