Smith in/out

Smith in/out

With the news Alan Smith was not in the starting line up last night, sports writer`s copy was furiously flying around talking of moves to Everton. With Mike Ashley`s insistence on cutting down the wage bill, Smith`s £60k a week seems a prime candidate for a shift, especially seen as the 'striker` couldn`t hit a cow`s arse with a frying pan.

KK has attempted to dampen speculation on this saying: "

With Alan - he's got a sore ankle. I haven't risked anyone in this game and I knew when I left him out it would cause questions, but he's got a sore ankle and I can't treat him any different to anybody else. You saw me bringing players off every time they get a knock.

Every time the doctors or the physios come to me and say, 'Habib Beye - 50 minutes is enough', I've stuck with that. I haven't risked anybody, which I think is right and it's given me a chance to give some other people a bit of time."

Would you be bothered if he left?

Not one bit. No goals in 40 games. Embarrassed for the bloke, genuinely.

You wish you could offload him. Has any 'striker' ever managed to play so many games at such a high level as Alan Smith and score so few goals?

60 grand a week?..................I can't believe he was on 60 grand a week and who would buy a striker who cannot score for the reputed 3mil plus on those crazy wages
