Allardyce - Options Open

Bolton play United at St James' Park on Satuday and boss Sam Allardyce has been put under the spotlight. Despite being given the chance to pledge his future to the Trotters (not Del Boy and Rodney), he has refused to dismiss rumours that he could be the next Newcastle United manager.

The big man is being linked with the vacancy at Newcastle - although former Celtic chief Martin O'Neill is still the bookies favourite.

Allardyce: 'If Newcastle had rung up and asked for me, like they did last time, the chairman would have told me and I would know that.

'I don't speculate on what would happen if the call came.'

I notice that your latest poll suggests Newcastle fans wouldnt be happy with Paul Jewell. Surely Jewell would be a much better choice than fat sam. He is an excellent man motivator, but a long ball merchant. Newcastle have the rescources to play much better football than that.

True. He's done well at Bolton, but they don't play the most attractive football. You do need to ask though, what is more important? Results or the way in which you play?
