Shearer Fitness Test

Newcastle captain Alan Shearer will have a late fitness test after sitting out three matches with a calf injury. Kieron Dyer, Titus Bramble and Craig Moore are progressing well from injuries but the match comes too soon.

Bolton hope to welcome El-Hadji Diouf back into the fold and the striker may start on the bench after recovering from a double hernia operation. Nicky Hunt is suspended and the club's nine internationals will be assessed following their midweek exertions. Gary Speed will make a welcome return to his old stomping ground.
