Taylor signs new contract

Acording the official Newcastle United website.

'Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has signed a new three-year contract which will keep him at St. James' Park until the summer of 2011.

Taylor, England Under 21 captain, has been with United since the age of 9 and last season passed the 100 game mark for the Magpies.

A delighted Taylor said:

'I am thrilled to have signed this new contract. Newcastle United is my home town club and the only team I've ever wanted to play for.

'I can't wait to get back into pre-season training next week and get stuck into the Premier League campaign next month.''

All I can say is hooray! Steven Taylor is a fantastic player (although maybe not as good as he thinks he is) and will only get better. Taylor has always looked great with a solid defender alongside him. Him and Faye looked pretty solid towards the end of last season and I think it is imperative that we hold on to both.

Taylor is mistake prone, Titus Bramble trained him up and left him behind to haunt you lot for years to come.

That's charming, T4L! Anyway, I think Taylor is a pretty good prospect. I would have loved him to have him at Liverpool but now that we've got Skrtel, he wouldn't fit into the team.

Good move, home grown are always the best.
