Newcastle's Duff set for Sunderland?

Newcastle's Duff set for Sunderland?

'Sunderland want to sign Newcastle's Damien Duff, Celtic's Aiden McGeady and Reading's Stephen Hunt, according to reports.'

Damien Duff maybe leaving Newcastle if the reports in the Sunderland Echo are to be believed. Duff's spell with Newcastle has been blighted with injury and lack of form. Duff made some positive noises about staying but there are rumours that he has put his house up for sale.

Could Duff be on his way? A victim of the clubs' sensible drive to cut down wage costs. Who would be upset to see Duff leave? Us for one! He came with so much promise for what seemed like a great fee: £5m. This seemed a bargain for somebody who had been terrorising defences in the Champions League the season before. Alas it has never really worked for Damien and you have to wonder if we could ship him out and bring in a hungry, young winger with a lighter wage packet.

We have seen very small glimpses of his brilliance, mainly from cameo roles but he just seems to be one of the many recent 'nearly men'. It might be a good opportunity to get rid of these players who have never really made it and bring in some good quality youngsters, hungry for a bit of Premiership action. What do you think? Should Duff stay or is the club's ambition to cut wages going to annoy some of our established stars and see them move to a club who is willing to pay the wages like dare I say it Spurs who seem intent on signing everyone Newcastle are interested in.

Are you telling me Sunderland could afford his wages or that he is going to take a serious pay cut, you don't get rid of him that easily. Spurs don't buy over paid, over rated crocked rejrcts from the north.

Wouls certainly be a huge chunk of the wages you need to get rid of for a bloke who spends more time on the treatment table.
