Joey Barton jailed: surprised?

So Joey Barton has been jailed for six months. Is anyone suprised?

'NEWCASTLE United notes the sentence passed to Joey Barton at Liverpool Crown Court today.

The Club is considering the verdict and will be making no further comment at this moment.'

That was the statement from nufc.co.uk. Is this sentence harsh? How should the club handle it? What are your thoughts on the situation?

Terry, I've just noticed that you've become the new editor. Good luck! :-)

Was always coming, glad he's not got special 'footballer' treatment.
The Fear
Thanks Fan of Blues, I may need it. I am totally new to this sort of thing so I hope everyone is forgiving :-) I couldn't agree more about being glad he didn't get preferential treatment, which would have been a joke.

whats the saying 'you reap what you sow'... its not a surprise at all is it really - it was always likely to happen some day.
good luck with the site mate - its not an easy job but if you keep at it it gets better and better, some people are never pleased, but rise above it!

I'm sure everyone will be! :)

am I just being a cynic, but the fact the court date was so close to the end of the season, Im assuming the sentence will also take into account his time already served and good behaviour etc, he will be out in about 2 months, just intime for the pre season friendlies, very convenient............

not really harsh from what i hear he had done.. 6 months is the right sentance
pulse
perhaps 6 mths for the incident outside Macdonalds, but he has got away with so many other incidents that also deserve punnishment.

Thug. Let's hope he learns but I doubt it. Yes good luck running the site Terry.

Should be booted out of Football for good no place for a hooligan on the pitch or off it.

So hope he gets it hard and fast

The blokes a bloody head case. About time a professional footballer got what they deserved when doing wrong.
