Kevin Keegan has confirmed that he has allowed Emre to leave Tyneside before the end of the season, allowing him to join up with the Turkish squad early as he wouldn't have featured against Everton on Sunday: 'We will let Emre go to join the Turkey side because we don't want to throw him in and get injured,' Keegan told Newcastle World TV. 'That would not be fair because he's just got himself back fit again after two bad injuries.'
Emre has had a difficult season, with injuries restricting his appearances with the Toon, so it is probably a fair call from Keegan to allow him to join up with Turkey early, rather than risk him picking up an injury that would see him miss out on the European Championships.
The thought is that Emre will not be returning to St James' after the summer, does this confirm that he isn't really in Keegan's long-term plans, or is he just being fair?
