Battle Is On For Peter Crouch

Kevin Keegan is beginning to turn his thoughts more and more towards his summer singings now. Keegan has said that his signings will only be quality signings, and one of these signings he would like to make is Peter Crouch.

The stories linking Michael Owen with a move away from St James' Park continue but Keegan remains convinced that Owen will stay with the Toon and he is now looking to pair him with his England colleague for next season. They have worked well together for their country, so now Keegan wants them to work well for together for Newcastle.

Portsmouth and Aston Villa are also long-term admirers of the giant Liverpool striker, with the News of the World today saying that Portsmouth are leading this three-way fight for him.

Is Peter Crouch the answer for Newcastle?

Papers saying Crouch would be available for £6m Can't see that myself, not with other clubs chasing, I think it would be nearer £10m Be interesting to see where he ends up, one thing is for sure, he might look 'awkward' but he knows where the goal is and never gives less than 100% Maybe Owen will be part of a deal?
The Fear
agree mate i cannot see him going for as little as £6m - i would be delighted if pompey got him for that but we wont!
i do think he will leave liverpool and do feel he will come back but i think it'll be for more like £8m - no offence to villa or newcastle but i think we'll be more appealing to him...
pompeyrug
why on earth would Pompey with your attendances etc be more appealing than Villa or Newcastle? Crouch would jump at a return to Villa imho.
The Fear
What has attendances got to with it? We make more noise & atmosphere than you. We have the Harry factor. A number of players in the England squad. Probably, uefa cup football. We are not Luton or Grimsby 4 fcks sake!
storagematt
well i think matt has answered the question :-)
