KK Says: 'We Probably Should've Won'

With the Toon looking the more likely to break the deadlock against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday evening Kevin Keegan has reflected on what he feels were two points dropped in the 0-0 draw: 'We had other chances and probably should have won the way we played.

'But getting a point here is certainly another good result although both Harry and I are bound to say it's two points dropped on chances.'

The best chances fell to the Toon, with Michael Owen missing the pick of the bench, being denied when his England colleague headed his instinctive Goalbound effort over the bar. Keegan was not backwards in coming forward in his praise for James, adding: 'We've come up against a really good team with an exceptional goalkeeper who in any other season would be named player of the year for the way he's performed.

'I know he's been nominated by the football writers for it but if he doesn't win it they should strike a special award for him. He's that good.'
