Saturday`s Chronicle stoked the pre-match fires by printed details of the disastrous mismanagement of the company finances by Messer`s Shepherd and Hall. Hall took an amazing £1.6m out of the club in the final year, with many of the directors also pillaging the club for redundancy packages. Fighting takeovers and paying back MGM cost the club nearly £10m whilst wages grew by a similar amount, putting the club in real danger. Luckily Mike cleared the debt when he came in…

Not really - Ashley has paid off the debt in an Abramovich-esque way so it's start afresh, unlike the likes of the Scousers / Man Utd who are saddled with high interest debt.
